Our monthly Art & Wine event returns to Shutters Lounge featuring the wines of Napa Valley. Kauai-based artist Marionette Taboniar will be on-site this evening for a live demonstration and mini-exhibition of her popular watercolor, pastel, acrylic and silk paintings.

It's Kauai Coffee Time!
My first painting I did for Kauai Coffee of their lovely Visitor Center.
This year they used my Visitor Center image to commemorate it's 10th anniversary on their burlap bag and t-shirts!
Here's my hubby driving the "cherry truck" during the coffee harvest. This year's harvest will likely start sometime in September.

Here are some random tourists learning about the coffee harvester machine. They are actually modified blueberry pickers. My Kauai Vacation
Sorry for the long absence from my blog. I've been on vacation with my family visiting from the Mainland for over a week! This was their first time to Kauai, and I was so excited to be able to show them around my beautiful island of Kauai! Above is a photo of a native, Hawaiian hibiscus.
My niece is "digging to China" at Hanalei Bay.
Here's my sister looking at a banana tree for the first time.
We were so lucky to see a Hawaiian monk seal sunbathing at Salt Pond Beach Park. Later on he went for a swim with the keikis in the kiddie pond!
Here I am with my niece at my art studio, Painting Paradise.
My sister is painting a Kauai Rooster. I think it's a law that if you are an artist and live on Kauai, you have to paint at least one rooster or chicken!!! (NOT!) LOL
The two serious artists at work. My niece loves arts and crafts and often spends two to three hours a day creating! It's in the blood!
My niece asked me if she could, "paint the manikin." I thought she was going to pose him, and paint her rendition of him on watercolor paper. Instead she literally PAINTED THE MANIKIN!!! How cute!

Looks like Kauai Coffee has a new coffee picker! I'll have to sign my niece up for the next harvest season in Septemer!! LOLIt certainly was a lot of fun spending time with my ohana! They thoroughly enjoyed Kauai. Mahalo for visiting!!!!

Plein Air Painting Day
Yesterday I was invited to paint with the Plein Air Painters of Hawaii during their special Kauai event! I had a pretty packed day planned already (teaching art classes), but I got up early and headed out to their first location, the Waimea Plantation Cottages. Somehow I managed to carve out two hours during the morning to set up and create a plein air pastel painting of this lovely cottage:

Here are some of the materials I used - Rembrandt pastels, charcoal pencils, and of course some "Aloha Passion Orange Juice" to keep me going!

Painting Kauai's Exotic Orchids in Watercolor
Mahalo to everyone who participated in or helped organize my workshop at Kauai's Orchid and Art Festival in Hanapepe on Saturday! I was so amazed by the talent and style of these art students that I wanted to share their creations in progress:

A Sneak Peak Into my Watercolor Class!
Yesterday I had such a wonderful group of ladies for my Friday watercolor class, that I wanted to share with you their creations in progress. I went around the room and captured these images as they were about half way done with their paintings. Many of them were absolute beginners!

I teach watercolors every Wednesday from 9am-12pm and
Fridays from 11am-2pm.
You don't need to know how to draw and beginners are welcome!
