Ceramic Tiles Now Available to Order Online at my Etsy Shop!

 

 

These decorative ceramic tiles can be found in many gift shops throughout the Hawaiian Islands, and now I am carrying them in my Etsy Shop https://kauaiartist.etsy.com for easy online ordering.  I have about eight images to choose from, but almost any painting I have can be made into a tile as a custom order.  Just go to my Etsy shop and send me a note.

The tiles are available in two sizes, 6"x6" and 8"x8" and can be used as as a trivet, displayed on an easel or hung on a wall. They have a cork backing to protect your furniture and a hook for hanging.  Each tile is specially made to order by my production partner on the Big Island of Hawaii.  They will be ready to ship via USPS Priority Mail in one to two weeks.

What's New and On the Easel?

Summer is winding down and fall is just around the corner, but you'd never know it if you live on the island of Kauai.  (Still feels like summer to me!  LOL)  I've been busy painting as usual and these are some of my latest creations:

Radiant Kalalau Valley is a 14"x18" original acrylic painting on stretched canvas.

Kalalau Valley on the island of Kauai is one of my favorite spots on this earth with it's emerald cliffs that rise up from the sea and patches of red dirt that peek out as the sunshine illuminates the rugged valleys. In the foreground are native ohia lehua trees which are sadly declining due to a deadly fungus that threatens to take out all of these amazing trees in the state of Hawaii. I hope that my painting preserves this moment in time so everyone can enjoy it's beauty.

Almost every day we see Hawaiian Monk Seals napping on the beach in this particular spot in the Poipu area. I love how their faces exude contentment and joy as they spend the day sunbathing on this relaxing Kauai beach. I think they have the right idea!

The one thing you will probably remember the most about Kauai is our beloved chicken and rooster population - no matter how gorgeous the beaches and scenery are. You will also enjoy driving down the picturesque and famous tree tunnel. Now imagine a tree tunnel filled with chickens!

This lovely hula gal is dancing in a garden filled with tropical ti plants in the beautiful paradise we call Hawaii. She has just finished her performance and is about to offer her lei of aloha to someone special as a token of her love, joy, compassion, and gratitude.

Blue Jade Vine

I have always wanted to paint one of these exotic vines ever since the first time I saw one many years ago. So when my friend asked me to photograph hers and her garden, I jumped at the chance to paint these beautiful turquoise and jade colored flowers.

 

 

Hawaiian Canoe

While going for a walk on the beach at Kauai's Kalapaki Bay, I came across this lovely koa wood canoe resting on the beach in the shade of some palm trees. It was parked right outside of Duke's Restaurant. I guess the owner must have stopped for lunch and a cool, refreshing beverage before continuing the journey. Or maybe it was the Hula Pie!

 

Little Lizard

One of the things I love about living in Hawaii are the cute animals and lizards. This one is an anole that my sister photographed when she was visiting. He is having fun navigating his way through the tropical plants at the resort. Anoles, geckos, chameleons - they are all so much fun to watch.

 

Na Pali Radiance

Kauai's Na Pali Coast's will amaze you with it's jagged cliffs that rise steeply and sharply above the turquoise blue of the ocean. Here we see rays of light illuminating these emerald valleys carved into the landscape by the crashing waves and rain over millions of years. I am awestruck by the grand beauty that nature has created for us to enjoy! 

 

The Journey Begins

For these baby sea turtles, their journey is just beginning as they take their first swim in the ocean from a secret beach on the island of Kauai. They are headed to their new home in the ocean, but will return to this beach to rest and sunbathe in the tropical Hawaiian sun.

The surf is indeed up on Kauai's north shore and guess who decided to catch a wave? Yep, our beloved chickens and roosters! Hope you enjoy this funny slice of Kauai life.

When the warm Hawaiian sun catches the Bird of Paradise just right, it almost seems to be glowing from within. I love the way this flower radiates light and color.

Find Marionette's Art at Cane Field Clothing and Gallery on Kauai

I am so excited to announce that some of my original paintings are now available at a super lovely boutique at Kilohana called Cane Field Clothing and Gallery.  It's located upstairs from the famous Gaylord's restaurant in Lihue.  

A big Mahalo Nui Loa goes out to Cheri and Dawn for choosing my art for this chic island boutique!  According to the website, "Cheri and Tiare Atkins, the mother/daughter powerhouse duo, opened Cane Field Clothing & Gallery in the grand master bedroom at Kilohana Plantation in 2012.  Together they have created a stylish and fun shopping experience for kama’aina as well as the many visitors who stop by the Plantation every day."

You know that special feeling you experienced the first time you ever saw a whale breach in person? It's like the 4th of July, Christmas, and New Years all rolled up into one!

It's the beginning of whale watching season, and this fella is making his first splash in the ocean on a stormy day. I always enjoy painting these magnificent creatures to welcome them back to the Hawaiian islands every year.

Lately I've been intrigued by the shapes and colors of the octopus tentacles and had to try my hand at a colorful abstract featuring what we call in Hawaii tako.
