Keeping Busy with Art During Covid-19

The last few months have been hard on all of us.  Who knew we would be hit by a global pandemic in 2020.  Virtually all of our lives have changed in more ways than one.  There's a feeling of isolation, fear, and for some depression.  If we've been lucky enough to escape getting the virus, there is still a lingering worry about how long this situation will last.

Luckily, Kauai has been blessed with only a few cases as our leadership here has acted quickly and has been doing amazing things to protect us.   We can finally enjoy the beaches and beauty of Kauai once again as long as we social distance.  For that I am thankful.

I am also thankful for spending more time with my husband, gardening, and of course, painting.  I've even found a little time to do some writing.  Having a creative outlet is important in a time like this.  It can be healing and relaxing.  It gives you something positive to concentrate on for a few hours instead of checking the latest depressing headlines.  Get creative!!!

Here are some of my newest paintings that I've been working on:

I have also been teaching "live" watercolor classes through Zoom.  I look forward every week to my classes as I get to "see" and chat with my watercolor buddies.  This has also been therapeutic for me and my students.  It mixes art with a little social interaction.

Stay safe and healthy and keep creating!  We will get through this :-)
